Magnolia West Senior Earns KPRC 2 Scholarship

KPRC 2 surprised Magnolia West Senior, Grant Ebel with a $2,500 Texas Mattress Makers Senior Scholarship last week.

Ebel was nominated by school college and career counselors, Kelli Kilpatrick and Linda Kenjura and is one of only 20 deserving high school seniors selected for the scholarship this year. He has always challenged himself by taking the most rigorous course load available and hopes to continue that when he studies biology in college. Ebel is planning on attending The University of Texas and was accepted into their Honors College and hopes to one day be a physician.

"The reason I want to pursue a career in medicine is that I desire to be of service to humanity and to promote health and well-being in others," said Ebel.

Throughout high school, he has been actively involved in a variety of service organizations such as National Honor Society, La Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Rotary Club, and was selected for the Magnolia ISD Superintendent Leadership Group.  Additionally, Ebel worked with younger students as a basketball coach, elementary Chess Club coach, math tutor, and a mentor for elementary students.

Congratulations Grant on being honored with this scholarship and good luck as you continue to do great things.
